Kangana Ranaut is a popular Bollywood actress. She has made her acting debut with movie Gangster in 2006. She has won a Best Supporting Actress award for her performance as a troubled model in Fashion. Kangana has bagged National Awards for Fashion, Queen and Tanu Weds Manu Returns. She will soon be seen in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Rangoon. She has designed a summer collection for designer brand Vero Moda titled ‘Venice Cruise’. She is also associated with the cause Swachh Bharat.


Kangana Ranaut was born on 23 March 1987 into a Hindi-speaking Rajput family. She was a topper as she used to study 18 hours a day. She said “The science in school didn’t help me much in my daily life as an adult. But the passion to be the best in my class and the love for books remain. Now I’m an artiste and I read on art.” She is also a trained Kathak dancer and loves doing yoga.

As per the latest reports, Kangana Ranaut and Shah Rukh Khan will be seen together in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film. Kangana might star in Anurag Kashyap’s next. Anurag has approached Kangana to play the lead in his next project. This upcoming project will be different from Anurag’s usual dark movies and is expected to be a light film.


Kangana Ranaut is very much single and not dating anyone. She has no plans for marriage yet.

Upcoming Movies

Kangana Ranaut will be seen portraying a fearless character Nadia in the upcoming film ‘Rangoon’ opposite Shahid Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan. The movie is being directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and will release on 24 February 2017.

She will also be seen in Hansal Mehta’s upcoming film ‘Simran’. Her character is that of a Gujarati girl. The story revolves around a girl, her ambitions and how she gets addicted to the world of crime.

Kangana has also signed a periodic film titled ‘Rani Lakshmi Bai’.


Kangana was brought up in Dehradun and studied in DAV’s High School, where she participated in many debates, elocutions and was a basket-ball player. She attended Science College in Simla. After a few months of college, she was driven to Delhi to become a model and accompanied the Elite Modelling Agency in 2003.


Kangana was born and brought up into a non-filmy family. Her father Amardeep Ranaut is a businessman by profession and her mother Asha Ranaut is in teaching field. She has an elder sister, Rangoli and a one year younger brother, Akshit. Her family lives in Mandi, district of Himachal Pradesh.


Ranaut has started her career as a theatre artist in Delhi with Asmita Theatre Group. She trained under eminent theatre director Arvind Gaur. She participated in his theatre workshop at India Habitat Centre and acted in several plays.

Her first play with Arvind Gaur was Girish Karnad’s Taledanda (Rakt-Kalyan). She joined Asha Chandra’s course in 2004 to brush herself to face the camera. In 2005, luck hit her with the movie “Gangster”. Apart from bollywood, Kangna also stepped into a telugu film Ek Niranjana, where she proved her acting skills.

Sister Rangoli

Kangana’s sister Rangoli has suffered from serious burn injuries where a man threw acid on her, at her residence in Doon valley. She was the final year student of M.Sc microbiology at that time. This was the first ever case of acid attack in Dehradun.

Fitness Secret

Trained under fitness guru Leena Mogre, Kangana follows a strict diet and workout regimen to maintain her figure. Being an ectomorph, she doesn’t really have to bother much about putting on too much weight, but a well-balanced diet is important nonetheless. Her fitness regime consists of a mix of power yoga, kickboxing and gym sessions.
