After Farhan Akhtar deleted his Facebook account today morning, fans are curious to find out the real reason behind the drastic step. Many believe it was a move after the very infamous Cambridge Analytica Data Scandal that put Facebook in a very uncomfortable position. Earlier this month, it was revealed that Facebook allowed a researcher from Cambridge Analytica — that also worked on Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, to use data collected from 50 million users without their consent. The outbreak of the news was followed by many users deleting their accounts and accusing the social media site for playing with their privacy. The Federal Trade Commission is now investigating the company. And while US-based companies like Mozilla, SpaceX and Tesla have already cut off ties from Mark Zuckerberg’s company, Farhan Akhtar is the only Bollywood celeb who has reacted to it. Though the Rock On star didn’t mention the real reason behind him saying a goodbye to Facebook, it is assumed that the scandal is to be blamed. Though Farhan is the only actor so far to bid adieu to the site, we wonder if the most-followed stars on Facebook, like Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan will follow suit.

Deactivating a social media account is a huge risk for an actor as the medium is the easiest way to stay in touch with their fans. However, after Amitabh Bachchan threatened to quit Twitter after losing a good many followers suddenly, and Farhan went ahead and deactivated his account, other celebs, too, might follow. Stars like Priyanka and Salman, who enjoy immense popularity on social media might think twice before giving up on so many followers. Below are the top five Bollywood stars with the highest numbers of followers on Facebook. With so many followers, you guys decide if they should ever delete their account to stay safe.

Priyanka Chopra – 36,479,683

Deepika Padukone – 34,513,754

Salman Khan – 35,986,574

Shah Rukh Khan – 26,744,342

Akshay Kumar – 25,324,089

These are the actors with the highest engagement on Facebook and we seriously doubt if they are willing to take such a drastic step. What Farhan Akhtar did was commendable (though the reason is not specified). Yet we wonder if the issue would be taken seriously by all our stars.
